Defender Kyle Jameson is hoping his Newport County side can finish the season strongly as they prepare to face Salford City on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
The Exiles host the Ammies in their last home game of the season, where they will looking return to winning ways after a run of six straight defeats.
County were defeated 2-1 by Tranmere Rovers last weekend, but Jameson insists his side must keep fighting on in the games that remain.
“I think we just need to stick to what we’re good at over the next two games,” said Jameson.
“We can’t change the way we play we just need to stick to our DNA at the club.
“I think we’ve been unfortunate in a couple of games, but some of the games we’ve played recently we haven’t been good enough in. These bad runs don’t last forever and we need to make sure we get the win tomorrow.
“We don’t like to make excuse but we have had several injuries. Since my time in football, I’ve not seen a club have as many injuries as us, but we know everyone here is capable of playing 90 minutes to the best of their abilities.
“What we’ve got in the changing room is a real good group and I know each and every one of them can perform. I'm positive we can find wins with the squad we’ve got at the moment and that’s what we’ve got to focus on.
“We need to send the fans home happy and give them something back. We need the fans on our side, cheering us on at the stadium and creating a real atmosphere.
“To get a win on the last home game of the season would be brilliant for them and they deserve it because they’ve been brilliant all season."
Since arriving at the club in the summer, Jameson’s first season in South Wales has been hit heavily by injury, but the defender has been pleased to back on the pitch in recent months.
It’s been good to be back playing," he added.
“Obviously, I had that long injury but it’s been brilliant to be back out on the pitch lately. The same as all the other injured lads, you just want to get back out there as soon as possible.
“I think we should be higher with the squad that we’ve got. We should be right up there and it’s a shame we’re on a bad run at the minute.
“I think the season on a whole has been good. It’s been a good season with the runs of the FA Cup and the big games in the league we’ve had here at Rodney Parade. “It has given something for the fans to get behind for the season.
"As a squad we are still capable of keeping clean sheets and scoring goals. Hopefully, tomorrow will be the start of something which we can build on.”
Academy player Nelson Sanca made his league debut for the Exiles last Saturday, partnering in the defensive line alongside Jameson and Matt Baker.
And the County defender has been really impressed with what he's seen from the 17-year-old so far.
“It was brilliant occasion for him,” said Jameson, reflecting on his debut.
“He’s been in and around us all season and it’s a great experience, especially making his debut in front of the fans last weekend.
“It must have been surreal for him and he did really well for himself in the game.
“He helped me out on a few occasions, I helped him out too, and we have a very good relationship.
“Us as defenders, it about teaching him now and guiding him in his development. I wouldn’t class myself or Baks [Matt Baker] as senior players, but if we can help further in his development then we will do.”
